Why this course exists

Your clients are already breaking down in your chair.

Every hairdresser and barber knows the moment. The pause before truth. The breath that catches. The client who came in for a trim and left something heavy behind.

Nobody trained you for that moment. Your cosmetology program taught you cuts, color, and chemistry — not what to do when someone starts crying, or falls silent, or tells you something that stays with you for days.

"The first responder is often not a clinician. It's the person physically present in the moment."

Chairside Steward exists to close that gap — with practical tools, clear ethics, and a professional identity that honors who you already are.

1 in 5
U.S. adults experience mental illness each year. Most won't see a therapist. Many will sit in your chair.
72%
of beauty professionals report emotional exhaustion from client interactions they were never trained to navigate.
0
hours of emotional stewardship training in the average cosmetology curriculum. This course is the first of its kind.
What you'll learn

Five outcomes that change everything
about how you work.

These aren't theoretical. Each outcome is something you'll practice, embody, and use the very next day behind the chair.

01
Weeks 2–3 · Core skill

You'll learn to read what your client's body is saying before they say a word.

Nervous system states. Pre-collapse signals. The breath that changes, the speech that slows, the silence that says everything. You'll develop perceptual skills adapted for the pace and flow of a real service.

"Nobody trained us for the moment a client starts crying in the chair. This course does."
02
Weeks 3 & 7 · Sustainability

You'll stop leaving every shift carrying someone else's weight.

You're not weak. You were never taught how to leave work at work. This course gives you a regulation toolkit you can use mid-service, invisibly — and a Personal Stewardship Plan to protect your energy long-term.

"Why do I go home exhausted even when I love my job? This is why — and how to stop it."
03
Week 4 · Protocol

You'll know exactly what to say — and what never to say — when a client breaks down.

The Hold With Care Protocol gives you real language scripts, anchoring techniques, and a clean way to close the moment without dependency or damage. Words you can use at your very next appointment.

"A client told me her husband just left her. I froze. This course teaches you what to do instead."
04
Week 1 · Identity

You'll shift from being a sponge to being a steward — and understand the difference.

There's a name for what you've been doing for free, unrecognized, for years. Chairside Steward gives you the professional identity, ethical scope, and clear boundaries that make this work sustainable.

"Hairdressers are the most underestimated emotional first responders in this country."
05
Week 6 · Environment

You'll design your salon or shop as a space that actually holds people safely.

Using the Sanctuary Audit, you'll assess your physical space and leave with three concrete changes to implement within seven days — creating felt safety, predictability, and dignity for every client.

"Your salon is already a sanctuary. This course teaches you to run it like one."

This course was made for you if…

  • You're a licensed hairdresser, barber, or beauty professional who works directly with clients
  • You've had clients cry, confide, or unravel in your chair — and you didn't know what to do
  • You go home emotionally drained and aren't sure how to stop absorbing your clients' energy
  • You want to show up more fully for your clients — without sacrificing yourself to do it
  • You're ready to treat emotional intelligence as a professional skill — not just a personality trait
This is not for you if
You're looking for clinical mental health training. This course is non-clinical and designed to stay within the ethical scope of a beauty professional.

Licensed Master Hair Stylist · Sacred Thread Intuitive · Certified Life Coach & Mentor · Founder, The Opus Haus · Las Vegas & Global

For nearly two decades, they have stood behind the chair as more than a stylist — as a witness, a container, a quiet keeper of secrets that were never meant to stay secrets. Twenty years of hands in hair. Twenty years of hearts laid bare.

"We didn't create this course from a place of expertise. We created it from the floor — literally — living through what happens when no one teaches us how to hold others without losing ourselves."

A Licensed Master Hair Stylist, certified Life Coach & Mentor, and Sacred Thread Intuitive — trained across somatic, trauma-informed, coaching, and spiritual modalities — Ging has spent their career building platforms that serve the people who serve everyone else. Through No Rest To Success and Strand'Ed, they created education, community, and resources for an industry that gives everything and receives so little in return.

But the real education came later. After years of giving their full self — their body, their nervous system, their boundaryless compassion — to a private salon ecosystem serving billionaires, the cost became impossible to ignore. Chronic fatigue. Burnout. Autoimmune diseases. Four spinal surgeries. And then, in 2025, an abrupt and unceremonious end to a position they had poured thirteen years of intimate care into — with no warning, no severance, no humanity extended in return.

As a single parent in Las Vegas, they found themselves on their family room floor — in physical crisis, in financial freefall, in the quiet wreckage of what over-giving without protection looks like in a body that finally says enough.

And it was there — on that floor — that the vision arrived.

Twenty years of watching the same patterns repeat: the burnout, the addiction, the trauma bonding, the poverty, the silence. Every salon and barbershop is a node in its community — a portal where the collective comes to be seen, heard, and held. What moves through those spaces moves through entire neighborhoods, cities, lives. Who is holding the hairdresser?

Chairside Steward is their answer — and our offering. Born from twenty years of human-centered observation, from personal collapse and spiritual clarity, from the audacious belief that our industry deserves not just survival, but sovereignty.

Their story continues in the forthcoming book, Chairside Steward — Compassion Before Collapse.

Frequently asked questions

When do the live sessions happen?
Every Monday at 10:00 AM PST, starting April 20 through June 8, 2026. All sessions are recorded — if you miss one, you'll have access within 24 hours.
Do I need any prior mental health training?
None at all. This is designed for beauty professionals with no mental health background. Everything is non-clinical and built for your context.
How much time does this take each week?
About 90 minutes for the live session, plus an optional short reflection exercise. Total weekly commitment is around 2 hours.
Is this for hairdressers only, or barbers too?
Both. Week 6 specifically addresses the unique dynamics of barbershops as masculine-coded trust spaces, with distinct frameworks for each setting.
Will this teach me to be a therapist?
No — and that's intentional. This course keeps you clearly within your ethical scope as a beauty professional. You'll learn when and how to refer, not how to treat.
What's your refund policy?
We offer a 7-day satisfaction guarantee from enrollment. If you complete Week 1 and don't feel it's right for you, contact us for a full refund — no questions asked.
